November: Max Tsun

R: Today we are meeting with our gamer of the month for November Max (Ogdo Bogdo) Tsun. Would you like to go ahead and introduce yourself?

M: So my name is Max Tsun. I’m a sophomore psychology major and I'm the IGL for the Rainbow Six team.

  • How did you get into video Games?

M: When I was young, I had a lot of free time. I was six and my dad asked if I’d like some video games. He didn’t know what the rating system was so he let me pick out whatever I liked. I had heard Call of Duty was cool so I got that. I also played Lego Star Wars a lot as a kid.

  • How did you find out about the club?

M: I originally found the discord link and joined right then and there. I kind of hung out for a bit, and then Austin (Kyad) sent out a message if anyone was interested in joining the Seige team. I wanted to play Siege so it was perfect timing.

  • What is it about Seige that drew you in?

M: I had played Seige from the beginning. I had played console previously for about 200 hours and then moved to PC and started playing more competitively with friends. We were decent, but still not super competitive. When Austin reached out I saw this as my final chance to put everything I had been working towards together. I’ve watched the pro league a lot and I’ve always had this ideal way of how the game is properly played with all the timings and everything. And finally being able to put that all in one place with people who are working towards the same goal as me is fun.

  • How has the season been going so far?

M: Its been a bit rough. We had very easy activation games and stomped all the teams we faced. But now we are playing against challenger-level teams and they usually have a couple of players who are very mechanically gifted and they are able to carry their teams to victory. Right now we are just kinda stuck in the middle. Too good to play against the teams we played in activation, but not quite good enough at this stage to beat some of the teams in challenger.

  • What do you feel the team needs to work on to take that next step?

M: It's mostly communication. We need to make sure that we are communicating constantly and effectively. The more we play, the better we will perform.
